Co-Head Coaches:  Rob Cole & Jim Daughtry Coaching 18U

Rob Cole

Coach Cole has been involved in softball coaching in the Loudoun County area for several years. He coaches highly competitive travel teams, winning numerous state championships at Woodgrove HS.  Coach Cole is a graduate of James Madison University with a degree in Finance and Economics and is a long-time local businessman. Coach Cole and his wife Betsy have a daughter Ashley, who is currently playing college softball. Her brother Tyler was a Wolverine athlete. Coach Cole's focus in working with talented pitchers to up their game!

Jim Daughtry

Coach Jim graduated from George Mason High School in Fairfax County, Virginia, and has been a member of the local community for many years. Splitting his time between his local roofing company, travel softball, and his family keeps Coach Daughtry quite busy.  A long time coach in the local travel program, Loudoun Storm Softball, Coach Daughtry has worked at a number of levels. He is currently the head coach of the 18U Loudoun Storm along with his duties at Woodgrove High School leading them to many state championships. Coach Daughtry is a noted batting specialist and has trained many of the great local hitters.  A local player who hits the ball hard has probably had contact with Coach Daughtry at some time during their career.  Coach Daughtry’s wife is Donna. They have three daughters, Delanie who graduated from Woodgrove, Hallie, who is member of a prominent softball team, and their daughter Shelbie who is a member of the 16U Storm softball program. It looks like Coach Jim will be coaching softball at Woodgrove for many years to come. His focus is on hitting and catchers of softball.

JJ  Merchant - 16U Team Coach

Jon “JJ” Merchant is a native of Loudoun County Virginia.  Coach Merchant is a certified coach in both the Babe Ruth organization and Amateur Softball Association (ASA), he is also an approved Commonwealth of Virginia umpire having called public high school, adult and recreational games. His passion for the sport and the development of his players is evident.  In addition to being the head coach of the Woodgrove JV team, he now coaches the Loudoun Storm 16U team. Several of Coach Merchant's former 18U Red players are now enjoying college softball careers.  With over 20 years in local law enforcement, Coach Merchant is currently an SRO (school resource officer) at Harmony Middle School working with educators, administration, parents and students. Coach Merchant and his wife Michelle have three children.; Carrie who played for Woodgrove High school and is now attending college, Katie who is a member of the Loudoun Storm 16U and Zach who plays travel baseball. 

16U- Taylor

Mike has 4 daughters and 3 of them play Travel Softball and 2 of them play in Loudoun County.  He has coached travel ball for the last 5 years and going into my 6th year.  The first 4 were with Leesburg Revolution and going into his second year with Loudoun Storm.  He has also  coached girls JV volleyball in Phoenix, AZ as well as the Men's Club volleyball team at Salisbury university.  His coaching philosophy is very simple,  "I believe in developing  the girls to be the best they can be on and off the field.  Athletics parallel many life experiences in so may ways and learning success on the field and as part of a team as well as challenging yourself through adversity will give our young athletes a leg up and strong foundation to build on in their personal and professional lives."

Loudoun Storm 14U wins 2014 First Responder Cup Tournament Sept. 5-7

Loudoun Storm 12U takes 2nd place at BRYC Fall Classic Oct 4-5.

Storm 18U Black winners of the 2014 Fall Showcase in Hagerstown, MD

Storm 18U Black win 2014 Field of Screams Championship beating host Olney Cougars 3-2 in Olney, MD.
